Templates can have an associated content type, which you can assign either when you create the template, or within the template builder. Assigning a content type allows you to use the content type’s properties when populating metadata.
When you assign a content type, you can also set static metadata in the document. This is useful if documents that match the template will always have a particular value for certain properties.
Zones in an Assist template can be either identification zones or OCR zones.

Adding a Template
- Open the Capture Server Home page, usually at http://servername:7210.
- Click the Assist
- On the Templates page, click Add a Template. The Add a Template window will open.
- On the Add a Template window, configure the template settings.
- Type a Template Name.
- Type or select any number of Template Tags, which are used to group related templates.
- Select a file to use as the base image for the template.
- Choose whether you want to assign a content type for the template.
- Click OK. The Template Builder page will open.
- If you chose to assign a content type, configure the content type settings on the Assign a Content Type window, and then click Save.
- Select a Content Type.
- To add index values that are always populated, type or select the Field Name and type the Field Value, and click Add a Field to add additional fields.
- In the Template Builder, draw identification zones for classifying your documents.
- In the Home tab’s Tools section, click the Identification
- Draw zones around any areas on the page that can be used to identify it as a particular type of document.
- Assign the Classify interaction to the identification zones.
- In the Home tab’s Tools section, click the Select
- Click to select an individual zone, click and drag an area around the zones you want to select, or hold CTRL and click each zone to select multiple zones.
- In the Interaction Panel’s Classify section, choose the relationship between the different zones, selecting And to group zones together and Or to separate groups of zones, and then click Save.
- Optionally, assign the Set Metadata interaction to identification zones.
- In the Home tab’s Tools section, click the Select
- Click to select an individual zone, click and drag an area around the zones you want to select, or hold CTRL and click each zone to select multiple zones.
- In the Interaction Panel’s Set Metadata section, click the configuration button, select a property, type a value, and then click Save.
- Draw OCR zones for reading text on the page.
- In the Home tab’s Tools section, click the OCR
- Draw zones around any areas on the page that you want to use to populate properties.
- Assign the Extract OCR interaction to OCR zones.
- In the Home tab’s Tools section, click the Select
- Click to select an individual zone, click and drag an area around the zones you want to select, or hold CTRL and click each zone to select multiple zones.
- Ensure that you have selected at least one OCR zone and at least one identification zone.
- In the Interaction Panel’s Extract OCRsection, select a property to populate for each OCR field, and then click Save.
- When you have finished editing the template, click Save in the Home tab’s Template
