Capture Server requires additional configuration when installed in an Azure VM. If all of the servers in your farm are located on-premises, skip these instructions and reference the On-Premises Prerequisite Article.
- Add a firewall exception for the Capture Server ports.
- On the Azure VM, open Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
- Click Inbound Rules.
- On the Actions panel, click New Rule.
- On the New Inbound Rule Wizard, select Port and then click Next.
- On the Protocol and Ports page, select TCP.
- Select Specific local ports, type “7210-7216” or your range of custom ports, and then click Next.
- On the Action page, select Allow the connection, and then click Next.
- On the Profile page, select Domain, Private, and Public, and then click Next.
- On the name page, type a Name and a Description for the rule, and then click Finish.
- Add Azure VM endpoints for Capture Server Apps and PowerShell.
- Open the Azure Portal.
- In the Virtual Machines section, select the Capture Server VM.
- In the VM’s Endpoints section, click the Add button at the bottom of the page.
- On the Add Endpoint wizard, select Stand-Alone Endpoint and then click Continue.
- Type “Apps” in the NAME box, select TCP in the PROTOCOL box, type “7210” in the PUBLIC PORT box and the PRIVATE PORT box, and then click Complete.
- In the VM’s Endpoints section, click the Add button at the bottom of the page.
- On the Add Endpoint wizard, select Stand-Alone Endpoint and then click Continue.
- Select “PowerShell” in the NAME box, keep the default values in all of the other boxes, and then click Complete.
- Ensure network traffic is allowed between the Azure VM and any on-premises servers in the farm.
